A buddy of mine is in town for this week and requested I shoot his portrait in front of a Canadian flag.

If there is anyone with ideas for good locations, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have a picture of the site, that would help me narrow down where I would like to shoot.

I plan on shooting in the late afternoon/early evening.

My friend will be in his Canadian Army uniform for the shoot.

What about Downsview park? They have that HUGE flag there - lots of green space. Plus you are near the base and the avaition museum, which could make for some great photo's also.

(not my photo - just a reference)

Yup. Downsview park... the military side

Your friend should be able to get you into the side so you can snap a few photos.

They have the large flag pole and you can put that in the distance.

Right at Allen / Sheppard.

You could try the Princess Gates at the CNE. Right by it you have the Fort York.

If I had a flag, that would make things easier, as I would just set up a studio shot. But I'm keeping this low budget.

Canadian Tire sells 6' Canadian flags for a reasonable price.

You know, I think I must be too bored, but when I read the title, this picture came to mind:

sorry for the morbid thought of the day.

That's quite the dramatic shot, but my buddy just wants a simple picture for his family in the event he is killed in action.

I appreciate the suggestions. I ended up making it a studio shot as this was such short notice and I was not able to find a flag. And I did look for one at Canadian Tire, but I couldn't find one. I'll probably pick one up before he gets back next year for his next leave.
