Caught this candid at the Harbourfront Hot and Spicy Food Festival. ;) It's all fair game Henry .. lol

I saw this guy and thought to myself "Hey that guy looks familiar" - now I see the connection. :)

No problem with it up at all. I was chatting with an old high school friend.

I must admit I did not take any scandalous photos of the two couples who were touchy feely just a bit south and to my left (your right). Did you?

yesturday i was walking on the danforth and seen a beautiful harley on the street. As I was about to take a picture of the chrome on it I heard this guy outta no where say " Hey, are you thinking of taking a pic of my bike" I responded that I was planning on it and he shakes his head and says " No your not taking a picture of my bike"
He wasn't rude but firm and I really didn't want to get in a debate about it cause he didnt seem like the kinda guy that was gonna listen to what i had to say...lol so i moved on...hehe

Personally if I was on my digital camera I would delete the pictures just to not be rude and then just back them up from the card, if it's not candid shots of people. If it was people I was taking pictures of and the shots are worth a try I would apologize, show them their pictures and then ask for permission to keep them and e-mail them a copy. I don't think anyone would mind to have professionally taken photograph of themselves... but thats IMO

Can you describe the bike? I have walked by several times and I swear that this guy likes to draw attention. Just curious as to whether it is the same guy or another one.

This seems to happen to me regularly now. Few days ago when I was taking a picture (http://oldlenses.blogspot.com/2009/09/window-painting.html) of a guy painting outside Shopper's Drugmart on the Queen West (past Spadina) on my lunch hour, this security guard (woman) came out and told me I could not take a picture of the store. I told her to look up the law regarding picture taking in public.

Yesterday, I was taking pictures of some flowers/plants outside a music school, and a woman came out and asked me what I was doing.

It seems like we can no longer take pictures without people telling us that it's not legal to take pictures in public any more. It's very sad indeed.

Interesting. The other day I was in Tim Hortons and someone was taking pictures inside the store while they were waiting in line. No-one said boo to the guy. I guess it would all depend on the store and who was working there.

Personally I would have told the person that asked me to delete the photo's to take a hike as it was a display the was viewable from a public street and since there were no "live" people in the photo, and assuming the photo was for personal use, no need for a release.

Addressing the "condo to condo" example. As I understand it, it is not ok to take photos from Private property to Private property, Private property to Public property, but ok to take it from Public to Public and Public to Private. So shooting from your condo into another condo is definitely illegal.

I've stopped to take pictures of the some areas of the city (Mississauga) and have had a couple of people come out and write my license plate down. LOL.

I've also stopped on side roads to take pictures of farms, and one time an OPP officer asked me to move along. I had said "Sure, after I finish taking these pics." Then she proceeded to ask me what the photos were for, and I told her strictly for personal use. She then noted that the owner of the farm probably wouldn't be happy about that, but I said I'm remaining on public property. She then noted that I should probably move my car as it poses a safety concern parked on the side of the road (and this is a side road with no traffic that had passed for 20 minutes) and I should move it before she had it towed. This was a couple of years ago.

Another time I was asked about what I was doing, I was not alone and had a "white friend" with me who also had a camera. He just asked what we were doing, and once told, he just said try to stay on public property and drove off.

I've noticed that I had less inquries into "what I'm doing" since I've shaved off my goatie. LOL. Still, unless I'm in a truly scenic area where there are other random people with cameras, I'm less likely to go around and take photos anymore. The hassle just isn't worth it ... unless its a tornado or lightning storm.

Is it illegal to shoot "private to private" (or "public to private"), or is it only illegal to publish private to private shots.
