Hey folks,

Does anyone know what the chances are of me getting Canon in Mississauga to give me an official number of the actuations on my 1Ds MK3? There's no counting software for the D series as far as I can find, and I want to get some documentation so that prospective buyers can have confidence in my shutter count estimate.

Thanks

Rick

Google for the software called 1dcount, it's accurate for the 1D and 1Ds series. It's free.

Thanks for that utility Kin. I know the older Canon Mark II series and Nikon cameras, you could use Photoshop CS3/CS4 to show your acutations via the EXIF data. Mind you, CS3 counter rolled over after 65000 actuations.

1. Start Photoshop CS3 or CS4
2. Open an Image, preferrably a RAW file
3. From the main toolbar, File Info
4. Go to the bottom of the Selection List and highlight Advanced
5. In the Advanced Window there is an information area called http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux, expand it
6. Look at aux:ImageNumber: ##### (where ##### is the number of actuations)

To my knowledge, there is no software available that will read 1D Mk 3 shutter count. You could however with pre-Mk3's.

Looks like you may be out of luck here. I searched all over and all the current apps like CanCount and 1DCount do not work on Digic III and higher processors. Time to take it into Canon Canada. That sux. I'd like to know how many actuations I have run through my 1D Mark III.
