Should be easy to find the missing lenses if they ever go on sale via their serial numbers.

Sure, if the police can check every listing, online or in the Pennysaver, for lenses for sale. It's not like the serial numbers are widely known to the average buyer, even if said buyer cared that he was buying stolen property.
