I thought I would not have been shooting this fall already until we had such an insanely warm (or hot 30 deg) Thanksgiving.I went out with my Pentax A300mmF4. I was really close to a GBH which somehow flew straight at me. For handling a manual lens I was caught pretty much unprepared.

There are the pictures I took last week-end at Point Pelee National Partk (Leamington), there were taken with my new Sigma lens 50-500mm OS on my Nikon D90.

Enjoy

The first one is Scarlet Tanager, the rest of the birds I don't know if anyone know them please help me out.

Wow this thread is still alive. I did my last post in 2011

These were taken with A300mmF4 and the vintage Pentax K20D for the nesting season of GBH (great blue heron)

Here are a couple of mine:

Cedar Waxwing, shot at the Humber Arboretum

Image

Bald eagle, shot on Horseshoe Lake in Minden

Image

Both were shot with a Sigma 120-400 handheld at 400mm on a D600. The waxwing is pretty well full frame but the eagle was cropped big time (he had to be 250 yards away!).

Here, it is pretty hard to find raptors in the wild, close enough to shoot.
I'm going back to West Africa in about a month...where its harder to not get sh!t on then it is to find them...

Here is a shot of Great Horned owlets, taken a week ago.
The chicks were 7 weeks old, this is just a crop from a full height shot.
