What: Mountsberg Raptor Centre Photography Session ROUND II
Where: Mountsberg Conservation Area - Raptor Centre
http://www.conservationhalton.on.ca/ShowCategory.cfm?subCatID=1416
Campbellville, Ontario Canada
When: Sunday the 12th of May 2013 from 11am - 12 noon
Please note that this is Mother's Day
Bring: Camera, Lens, park admission, fees for shoot ($40) and yourself

Additional Info:
As Yesh's first group filled up, I figured I would start a second one.
Things you need to know:
Its $200 for the session and I'm limiting it to 5 people.
So if you sign up, you owe me $40 whether you show up or not.
If we get less than five people, the fee for anyone who has signed up is still $40 (I'll cover the rest).
I've booked the date and time, so it won't be changing.
I'll be driving up so I have space in my ride for others who can meet me in the west end of Toronto.
If you have any question feel free to PM me...

I believe that they are (http://www.conservationhalton.on.ca/ShowCategory.cfm?subCatID=1088), but you can call to confirm.

...actually, to think about it, they even have off-road wheel chairs at the visitor centre...so I think the entire place is accessible...

As Helen is bringing a non-member to the event, I have decreased the sign up to 4 participants since the guest is #5 but won't be signing up.

So we're all good to go for Sunday - looks like the weather won't be half bad.
I'll meet you guys out front of the Raptor Centre around 10:45 so that we can be in and ready for when the one hour clock starts ticking at 11am.
If its raining, I'll be IN the raptor centre ;-)
See you there!

A couple things:
1) Don't pay the entrance fee at the gate when you arrive - tell them you are with a photo group who has booked the raptor centre (the park entry fee is included in the fee).
2) Full cost is $177.98 / 5 = $35.60 each.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.
I really enjoyed the shoot, apart from the hail storm.
I will definitely be up for doing this again in a month or two (whenever they have an opening).
PS - looks like I shot 1,101 pictures in that hour....sooooo, yeah, it might be a little while before I'm done processing,eh.

Thanks Mike for setting this up. Had a great time in the snow/hail/rain :)
Thanks for lunch too.
I will go back there again for sure.

In the allotted hour, we were able to see five raptors:

American Kestrel by MichaelEric, on Flickr

Peregrine Falcon in the frozen rain by MichaelEric, on Flickr

Barn Owl by MichaelEric, on Flickr

There were three that we did not have a chance to shoot (of the eight available for these events): the merlin, the gyrfalcon and the red tailed hawk. So I will definitely be booking another event in the near future to photograph them.

Mike, thank you so much for organizing this event, we had so much fun and the experience is very rewarding. We all got tons of good shots and the hail storm is nothing, it was worth it!

Lunch was so tasty, thank you very much for treating.

Both me and Helena are glad to be there and will come out again for another session, really can't wait to see another four species.

PS. Thank you so much for taking care of my friend.

Mike,

Amazing shots!
I like the first one the most, she looks like she is in her natural environment. Great angle !

Thanks for setting this up Mike. Despite the weather it was an excellent way to spend an hour on Mother's Day.
And thanks for lunch also.

I shot almost 1,000 so it will be a few days until I can get through mine as well.

Thanks.

The lady from the raptor centre was very friendly and accommodating.
It was great experience.
I'll be doing it again definitely...
