Hey all,

Just wanted to share my first night time, time lapse. Shot with Nikon D3 and compiled in Adobe Premiere. I've shot a lot of day time/indoor time lapse footage, but I really wanted to try some night time with long exposures.

Made a few mistakes like forgetting to leave the camera on manual focus after focusing, there's a few stills where the camera locked onto something else, it's a big distracting.

Anyone know where we can rent a motorized slider with timing controls? I really want to shoot some footage with camera movement.

Lol np. It wasn't anything crazy so I figured the guys here would know.

I pretty much went out with a tripod, the D3, Yongnuo timed shutter release and my dog.

The sun set footage I shot at 200 ISO f/11 and 1/4th of a second shutter. Later when it was a lot darker I played around with 1-4 second shutter and 200-800 ISO. For the wide angle shots I used 4 seconds and 200 ISO worked well, but for the closer street shots I used 1 second shutter and 800 ISO. At a close up distance 4 seconds is way to long, each car would be at the end of the street for the length of the frame. At 1 second I could capture the same car over a couple of frames and I feel looks better in motion.

Shot Jpg to save on file size and processing power, I ended up with 1200+ shots but used just over 900+ to sync with song. I brought the images into camera raw, did a batch resize and saved each location into individual folders.

Started a new project in Adobe Premiere, imported images and music.

Took about 2.5 hours between premiere and camera raw to get the final video.
