Looks like the rain will hold off until mid to late afternoon, so we should be good to go tomorrow.

Clouds would be good to get rid of the harsh overhead midday sun
But morning sunshine would be nice...

Clearly a 1Dx and the 70-200MkII is a good combo. :D Yeah, you can see the fence pattern from the fence on the other side of the bird, it's pleasingly blurred though. Awesome pic, great job.

On a side note the Bald Eagles that have been hanging around Cootes Paradise have finally produced chicks! AFAIK they're not currently sure if there are one or two chicks and they're not saying where in Cootes they're hanging out. Definitely great news. Fantastic to see this species making a comeback. While I've got it I'm gonna schlep someone's 300 f4 through the mud and try and get some shots. :D

Thanks for organizing the event Janet.
Thanks Mike for the drive.
Great shots of the bald eagle guys. I wasn't able to get a good one of him - maybe next time. Here are two of mine...

That's a neat spot. We should make a point of heading out there more often.

Let me 'splain... by ofermod, on Flickr

So, this bird was 'splaining that for a price, she'll pose on a more natural perch for $177 for up to 10 photogs.

Maybe someone with warm weather prediction skills would arrange such an event?

No such person has such skills. Won't keep us from trying though.

I was actually thinking of trying to do this in the autumn. I have done it with Mississauga Camera Club in the winter - a few years ago.

I don't think we had the birds flying towards the camera. We could ask if this is a possibility.

Some years ago I organized an event at the Wye Marsh where they fly the the birds of prey. It is a regular event on Sundays (1:00 PM). Although as we discovered there is a time in the fall and the spring when the birds are not flown outside due to a seasonal feeding issues. Otherwise it is done outside. One thing, when the birds are flown they do have jesses.
