I didn't know where else to post this, but figured it's amusing enough to share.

I was looking trying to get an estimate on what my old D90 might be worth now and I came across this description from someone selling a D90 kit on Kijiji.

Quote:
"Hi there, I am an amateur photographer and i have been using this kit for at least 4 months now and i am ready to move to a full frame Nikon kit."

I mean.. daaamn. Took me like 7 years, I'm clearly way too slow of a learner.

I'm failing to see what moving up to a full frame has to do with learning. Maybe he's tired of the D90 restricting him on FPS, or ISO noise, or [insert thing he doesn't like here that most full frames offer].

I bought my first camera last year, the D700, along with the 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200 that same day. It's no shock that I'm head of MENSA.

Clearly, he learned that he needs a better camera to take better pictures.

And if you told me that you outgrew and replaced that kit within 4 months, i'd be just as.. uhm.. i guess "perplexed" is the word. Did you?

If you want to be a race car driver buy an F1 car to start. If you want to be the next Beethoven buy one of his pianos. For photography if you want to be the best surely you need full frame if not Leica gear.... At the very least.

Then I guess I must be getting dumber as I started out with medium format (6x6) Agfa Isolette when I was 6, then got a 35mm SLR when I was 11, and today I love Micro Four Thirds!

Although there was a brief period in my teens where I used a process camera (that's a flat field camera that's taller than a person used for photographing documents)...it used sheet film up to 24"x36" (that's 2 feet x 3feet). An example of one (note the size of the dollar bill attached to the bellows support, yes the back half of the camera was in another room, you'd have a darkroom in there for developing the sheet once it's been exposed):

I went from crop to full frame in less than 4 months. T3i to Canon 5D Classic. Than after a few months of the release 5D Mark 3, I bought it with no intention of owning one but the reviews got me.

I'm alway the bad guy so I will just put it out there. What if this guy is a really good photographer? Four months or four years become nothing more than semantics.

I always believed that technology makes photography more convenient. It doesn't make you a better photographer. If you are good you can get great pics with any (working) camera. Some cameras / situations will just take a bit more of a time commitment (set up and shooting)
