What:MapleSyrup Festival at Mountsberg Conservation Area
Where: Mountsberg Conservation Area - Main entrance of the Visitors Centre
http://www.conservationhalton.on.ca/upl ... %20map.pdf
When: Sat. April 6 at 9:45am
Bring: Camera, etc.
Cost: $7.25 ($6.25 for seniors)
Additional Info:
http://www.conservationhalton.ca/events.cfm?itemid=3512

According to a different link, the admission at Mountsberg also gives us free admission to Crawford Lake's Sweetwater Season event (on the same day). I haven't been able to confirm this, but it does seem likely.

Sticky sweet harbinger of spring, the maple sap has begun to flow and Mountsberg Conservation Areas is opening the doors to Maple Towne. March 3 until April 9, 2012 (weekends, March Break and holidays) the working sugar bush will be in operation complete with Pancake House, Candy Cabin, Sugar Shanty and wagon rides! Visit Maple Towne and receive free entrance to Crawford Lake Conservation Area’s Sweetwater Season event when visiting on the same day.

I may have another commitment in Hamilton in the evening (not yet confirmed), so I may or may not be able to go for food afterwards, as we usually do.

The maple sap is already running around the southern tip of Lake Erie. I should be all over in the area well before April.

I realize that is a possibility, but this is the only date to which I can commit. I expect there will still be enough activities happening to make it interesting. Mountsberg also has nice trails, and birds of prey, etc. I might be able to do the March 23/24 weekend, but won‘t be able to commit until late that week.

this sounds really interesting!!! I am down as a maybe at the moment. I have to check my schedule and see if I am really available.

Ryan is correct about the sap -- my cousin in Varna installed the taps in his tree's last weekend.

Janet, just wanted to thank you for your efforts lately in setting up events - even in the face of mother nature. Please keep it up. :)

As long as there is no snow, and I don't get stuck working, I'm always up for a trip up to Mountsberg...love their raptor center

I don't expect snow in April. If there is, I won't want to drive there.

Good to know. Let's hope it is still flowing at Mountsberg on April 6.

Yes according to the farmer I buy mine from the cold weather has slowed the run to a trickle so there is hopefully much more to come.

Yes, the lines freeze at night and flow during the day once warmed up.... But there should be lots of sap still to flow into April.

I am still planning to go. Unfortunately, I can‘t take one of the spots in you car since I am going to Hamilton in the evening.

I'll have to head home and walk my avatar in the early evening, so depending on the timing, I may or may not be able to provide seats...

Damnit. That's twice in the same thread you got me to literally LOL.

I was hoping to make this one but I've got a PMP thing to work on for the following week and what is left I want to spend as family time.

Dude I live around Royal York/Lakeshore now, eh ;-)

If the meet up time is 9:45, I can pick you up at 8:30 to make it there on time...

I'm guessing this will be a morning/early afternoon event, with a possibility of getting a late lunch?
Ions, what time will you and the fam be getting to Mountsberg? Any preference for a lunch location? :P
