Are there any places in Canada which will take mailed-in film (35 or 120) and return with a CD of high-res images (and negatives of course) at an affordable price? Or better yet, somewhere in the GTA?

I came across this place in Austin and it seems like a pretty good deal, considering the high resolution of the scans.

Pretty sure my home scanner won't achieve that kind of quality.

Downtown camera Queen and Church provides relatively good scans for 35mm $5 if scanned when developed. Their medium format scans are smaller then their 35mm so no bargain here. Other places such as Toronto Image Works and Northern Artists also do developing and scanning but scanning prices are more expensive.

I don't find downtown camera scans for medium format all that stellar..... I get better results on my V700

developing is pretty cheap at toronto image works. if you rent a scanner it might lower your scanning costs by quite a decent amount. higher quality too

I seem to get better, not hugely, but more in focus scans by my 7D + Zeiss in macro mode at F11 with a flash shooting through than the Epson V500

16-base scans typically run $10 or so at labs I typically go to, but biting a bullet and buying a scanner (like Epson V#00 series) may be better if you plan on shooting film and scanning forever.

These scanners aren't ideal, the out-of-the-box scans suck, you have to invest a lot of time and sometimes money to get great results :)

There is a fine art photographer who also does professional scans from 35mm to large format. I have read about him in another forum somewhere. My boss has been using him for his high end work since a couple of years.
Its www.zgimaging.com - they are in Oakville I think, call and ask.
