Thats very cool. I wish I had the the guts to attempt that sort of thing, but I don't - I think its the whole legality thing - cause god knows I have put myself at enough risk taking photos in nature.

Definitely makes it harder on the rest of us. But Neil and Tom were among the first to do it in Toronto; I guess we can't judge them for trying to move on to bigger and greater things.

Do rooftoppers follow all rules? No, but in general there is an underlying code of conduct for those involved in urban exploration and/or rooftopping. You'll find most people engaging in these activities abide by the edict of "leave only footprints, take nothing but photos". To suggest that they're unilaterally rule breakers is a stretch.

I don't want to get caught up on a long series of back and forth on this subject. So I will stop with these comments. Don't confuse a self determined individual code of ethics or conduct as adhering to any set of rules. Such codes tend to be very fluid and adjustable to the moment. And secondly it isn't such a stretch to make the comment about roof toppers being rule beakers. Studies have established this tendency in people who take risks with one study of risk takers showing that 40% of the participants believed that rules were for breaking. It is not always a bad thing as a certain amount of risk taking and rule breaking is necessary to advance new ideas.

It is interesting that at the end of the article the photographer admits that the thrill is a big attraction.
