That there is wide angle country. Besides the great rock formation, you should get to the White Sands National Park. If you are really brave hop across the border and photograph the Mexican border towns.

That would be unwise Ryan. El Paso(U.S) is the opposite border town of Juarez. Though it's on the Texas side it's at the foot of NM. The drug cartel controls Juarez. Avoid chicos with a teardrop tattoo on the lower left eye.

If you like art, then visit the artist's enclave of Taos (no photography in the galleries so be aware). Santa Fe is a nice city as well. Make sure you stop by Bostick and Sullivan if you are in the area and pick Ed's brains if you are serious with photography. Much to learn you can with him.

Native american adobes up the mountains, canyons , descend 750 ft deep into the Carlsbad caverns, it really depends on your interests.

Juarez is quiet safe and interesting. But as usual some people have been watching too much TV. Just like most US cities including Washington there are places in which it is unwise to venture. I have friends in El Paso and they are always hopping across the border.

I did mention for the brave, not the stupid. Day trip only to the city centre. Or just go through Juaraz out to the country.

The stupid rarely do 8)

Have a good trip, you can have plenty of photo opportunities without venturing into Mexico.
