Hexagonal bokeh? What's the difference between standard round bokeh and hexagon-shaped bokeh? I'm assuming something to do with the aperture blades... so here are my actual questions:

Is hexagon bokeh considered evil?
If so, is there a way to prevent the hexagon from forming instead of perfect little round circles? (I like shooting almost wide open with the aperture, usually)

Looks like you are using a lens with 6 aperture blades. Unless you are shooting wide open or with one of the more expensive lens that have a near circular aperture opening up to a certain number of stops, you'll likely get some sort of shaped bokeh.

Hexagon bokeh aren't evil, just a matter of personal taste!

Yes, as stated above, there's not enough blades to create a circle.

The image on the left is a Canon f/1.2 then f/1.4 and f/1.8.

I'm not sure why you're convinced that hexagonal bokeh is bad. It's just another thing that makes lenses different from one another.

It's just my preference to see round circles than a rigid shape in my photos - to me it just looks nicer and cleaner

Shoot it wide open at f1.8 before you throw the baby out.

I'm not gonna throw it out lol I'm keeping it I usually shoot it at 2.0 or 2.2 if on aperture priority.. I'm gonna try to see if I can get some round bokeh shooting wide open but if not I'll just try to avoid excessive bokeh for the time being

nah nah nah, definitely, throw it out--and fast! as a simple common-sense precaution you should always throw out all your lenses when you learn a new word. better throw one out now than have to throw out six when you learn about the helicoid step, diffraction or focus throw one day

in that case you are excused from the abovenamed common-sense precaution. in other words, you may keep it.
