New Location

We are going to try a freeze motion many camera fun shoot
From original post http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=173507#173507

Similar to this video: http://www.petapixel.com/2011/04/12/how ... h-friends/

where: Cloud Gardens

Decided we just might get lucky and have some parkour going on.

http://goo.gl/maps/eQmq

The only requirement is you have a camera lens (zoom or prime) that can be set to around a 80mm full 35mm (8:12) frame = 50mm @ 1.6 crop factor. Bring tripods if you have them.

Sorry if this eliminates any point and shoots but it would be too difficult to process otherwise.

Any wizards that would like to volunteer to do post?

Because we really need to know how many cameras will be there please only sign in the Most Definitely column when you are sure you are coming.

Not really you have to know what the crop factor is for your camera

Lens mm = 80mm/crop factor

For APS-C sensors it is usually 1.5 for Nikon or 1.6 for Canon. This means a 50mm or a zoom that goes through 50mm is close enough.

I have no idea for the rest of the formats or camera lines. You can find out some of the information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APS-C

if you'll consider postponing this event out 1 week (May 7th?) I'd be down!!!

Pam you have a D90 right? I believe the camera has a 1.5 crop factor so something in the 50mm range would work.

Would like a few more people to signup to make the event feasible.

Also looking for one or 2 Photo wizards for the post and at least one device that we can upload everyone's images to at the event.

Basically making the movie which consist of collecting the images from the different cameras, matching the white balance, contrast, and scaling. Before each scene every camera will shoot a grey card and set exposure and focus.

To make this work, all cameras will also have to have the same sensor ratio, i.e. 3:2...which leaves out FourThirds cameras, & P&S with 4:3 ratios!

No not really as all images will be cropped and scaled to HDTV format which is 16:9. Shutter lag, lack of exposure and focus manual adjustments plus reduced image quality is of more concern if anyone wants to use a P&S.

seems like another major consideration is to have everyone focused on the same spot as the amateur video was all handheld and the images weren't focused nor framed on the same point. So everything needs to be framed evenly and focused the same.

Weather so far looks to be good. I've set the location

to St. James park on King east http://goo.gl/maps/7Rqt

Don't forget to bring tripods if you have them. Also if you have a friend or 2 that can jump and doesn't mind being photographed then bring them along.

I hope more people show up. I actually have an old copy of the Matrix issue of Cinefex with a photo of the original bullet time rig. It's ridiculous. I'll bring it with me. Cinefex is pretty litigious so I won't post any scans.

Yes more people would be better but as long as we have eight or more I think we can do something interesting but not maybe a 360 degree shot.

Hoping that some one can bring a friend, brother, sister any relatives to act as models because we really don't have enough cameras for people to do both.

Still need a storage device to transfer everyone's shots.

Looks like a real spring day, see everyone there.

If any one has either a HD video or a DSLR with video please feel free to bring it along as we should be able to blend the video with stills.

Still lots of room for more people!

I had to cancel, I have run out of time to make it out to this event. :(

I hope this works out very nicely. Hopefully, this event is done again in the future.
