NOTE: RESCHEDULED (AGAIN) to Sat May 7th, based on the cooperation of our cherry blossoms.

Details:

What: High Park - In Search of Cherry Blossoms 2011
When: Saturday, May 7, 2011 (Saturday after the Saturday after Easter)
Time: 8:00 AM, or earlier.
Where: Parking Lot near the Grenadier Restaurant.
Bring: Camera(s), Tripod or Monopod, Patience for other people in your shots.

There will be an ad-hoc or an official event for sunrise, around 5:15am. Otherwise I would never get to High Park on time. Details forthcoming.

My apologies for the laziness, decided to copy and paste the details of Maureen's event from 2010.

See Map and location below:
http://www.highparktoronto.com/map.php
http://www.highparktoronto.com/images/highpark_map.jpg
http://www.highparktoronto.com/index.php -- Home page

We will meet downhill of the Grenadier Restaurant, west toward the pond. This is sort of in the central location of the park. Enter off the Bloor St. entrance by car for easier access. Parking is free. Hopefully arriving early will guarantee good parking and less crowds for better shots of the cherry blossoms, or other flowering trees. But given that this is also Easter Saturday... good luck.

We will wander around there and head over to the pond area or other locations as the day progresses.

Hopefully we will get some Cherry Blossoms this weekend if not we will make the best of the day.

When we get tired or hungry we can think about somewhere to grab a late breakfast, early lunch or brunch somewhere. The Grenadier Restaurant can be an option depending upon how busy it is at that time.

Dim Sum might alternatively be appropriate.

Unfortunately, I'm busy the morning of April 23 (even sunrise is too late for me). However if you do have to reschedule to April 30, then I would likely make it for both sunrise and cherry blossoms.

Which one is this event for? :) :)

Can't do the 23rd, however if it gets rescheduled for the 30th I'm in.

That's OK Chris, all the details were there for the event I did last year.

Corrected to sat 23rd. That being said, what are the odds of the park being less busy on sunday morning with religious christian types going to church?

It's likely any ones guess, remember there will also be the Good Friday evening service too -- for those who don't want to get up too early on Sunday.

Cherries are not blooming yet. Probably at least another week. You should postpone this meetup, until the blooms are half out or at peak... please.

I'm inclined to agree with that assessment thus far.

Anyone else seconding the motion to move the event one week later?

I was there today looking at the wood ducks, etc and checked the cherry blossoms and there is nothing there at all that looks close to ready.

It was very cool and windy in the park today!

Haven't been to a TPMG event in a while! Looking forward to this! :D

don't mean to be an anal, but after all these postings about changing dates and making corrections, am I the only who spotted the year is actually 2010? :o
Or did everyone already know it's just a moot point...? Except me who never learned to let go minor details...lol :)

Between the event title itself both in the thread title and the event details under "What", I would hope the people could figure out we are talking about this year. The 30th is only a Saturday this year, and not last year.

The correction is appreciated, proofreading every detail of posts isn't necessarily my strong point. That's why there's an "Edit Post" button.

I would have loved to go see the blossoms, but I can't make it this weekend. :(

Any chance of postponing this again to the following week for better blossom viewing?

According to <a href="http://www.highparknaturecentre.com">High Park Nature Centre</a>, the "blossoms" look like this yesterday.

Yeah.. doesn't look good this weekend. With all the rain, it's gonna be muddy too.
