I never really write blurbs with my photos or blog anything but this was a little different I encourage you all to add to it !

Sometimes I think there are photos that you take that have stories tagged along with them and some just spur of the moment photos ...

This one has a small story That I was going to share just because .. I don't know really know but oh well. Ever have those spots that you drive by ALL the time and think "That place would make a great picture" but you never take it?... Today on my way to Scarborough Town Center to meet someone to sell my lens I saw this spot I've always wanted to take a picture of... Passing it on the Go bus without my camera I looked and saw how the mist was forming over the grassy hills from the rain and the obsurd heat we had today .. It looked amazing! I was swearing in my head wishing I had brought my camera with me ... I eventually got over it half way to Scarb Town and forgot about it ..

Did my duty at the Town center and hopd back on the bus on my way home.. Passing by this spot again I see not only does it have the same mist there but it has a really beautiful pink sunset going on aswell .. LOVED it! looked amazing!.. Again the swearing went on in my head lol ... Me living a fair distance from the bus stop I immediatley called for a cab to meet me at the bus stop .... As I waited for the cab I got excited and decided if I rushed I could go home get my camera and get out to this spot before the sunset had completely Vanished ... Getting antsy the cab took wayyy longer then I hoped ... or atleast it felt like it lol!...He finally arrived .. (9:23pm)

"Hey Moe, Think we can make it to my house and back to the spot before dark?" "no problem boss" lolll .. We got to my house I ran from the cab unlocked my door and flew upstairs to my room (with my shoes on... Some of you know my dad LOL! Ill hear that one later) .. I grab my camera sitting on my window bench sill thing .. and grab my tripod .. I dart downstairs and hop back in the cab .. We race over to the spot he thorws on his fourways and I tell him to give me a few minutes and to come back if he needs too ... lol! I hop out of the cab and run up the main road and setup my tripod and bang out a few shots before it goes too dark out to get anything..... I pack up with a total of 3 shots .. and head back to the cab and get him to take me home ....

25 dollars later ... Sweaty as a pig in this weather and muddy carpets I'm gonna get reamed for later ... I got the shot I was hoping for lol!

Please forgive me for my horrible literature and spelling lmao!

Not the most amazing photo ever but I think the story makes it better :D

Post photos that have stories and or deeper meanings behind them to better understand the photos!!

that's exactly what I was talking about.... the Glen Eagle campground is on the west bank of the rouge river from that vantage point.

We should do an outing -- I have been on quite a few hikes through that area. Twin Rivers park is my favorite - there are ruins from an old mill right off of the road.

Once you cross the bridge to the eastside, the trail heading north will take you up to Twyn Rivers and more trails up towards the zoo. A GPS with the topos loaded is pretty handy.

Love your picture. I've always wanted to shoot something like that with the mist.

BTW, where is the exact location of this abandoned mansion?

I'm leaving for the Great Smokey mountains in eastern Tenn and western NC next Saturday. There is always mist in the mountains there. I'll try to come up with a mountain lion chased me story to go along with a photo.

Great shot Tyler. I agree with Fionah, it looks like South East Asia (cept for the types of trees etc).

Photos with a story?

OK, I park my clean car under a tree for some shade while i have lunch. I come out after eating and see the most disgusting thing ever!

HUNDREDS, and i mean HUNDREDS of gooey bird droppings all over my car!!

Man, it looked like a flock of birds declared WAR on my car!!! 45 minutes of avian carpet bombing!! Absolutely disgusting and mesmerizing at the same time. I went home and got my p&s and took some snaps. These photos are taken AFTER the droppings dried up a bit so imagine BIGGER and WETTER and more GROSS!!

Didn't go back to work. Went straight to the car wash. Yuck!!

While walking in front of City Hall I noticed that the swinging truck doors dissected the word 'bratwurst' rather amusingly. In order to properly photograph it I need the door to be slightly more open. I couldn't think of any way to explain this to the hotdog truck owner - I didn't think he'd see the humour in having his truck photographed in such a fashion. I could see the owner was occupied with customers so i slowly opened it, bit by bit, hoping the street traffic would muffle out the creaking of the door. At one point the owner called out so I just stopped, moved away as I was out of his view, 10 seconds later I pulled again slightly on the door until I reached the point I didn't dare cross - singlemindedly thinking only about getting the photo.

I quickly composed the shot, took it and was about to close the door for the owbner when BAM - the owner swung open the door (narrowly missing my face). I was face to face with one angry man. Apparently he suspected somebody of wanting to steal some stale buns. So I played the dumb tourist speaking in French and felt obligated to buy a mystery dog from him and all was well.

I saw this man passing the missing letter in the city name in the stadium fence but I didn't have time to reach for my camera. I decided to wait for the man to walk around the stadium. It was the longest waiting for one shot in my life ;-) From time to time he made brakes or stopped to have a look at somethings :-)

A few of us went to do strobist shots and ended up in the Kensington Market park. There was a juggler, a dog owner, and an oboe player who weren't totally stoned. Everyone else was completely wrecked. Including a group of people having a picnic with a toddler in tow. All completely stoned. Kid didn't even have a diaper. The fellow in this picture was so out of it that we had to remind him to take a look at the pictures.

A few years ago when I was taking an extended break from reality on the Big Island of Hawaii. The above shot was taken while accessing the lava flow from the non-tourist side.

I drove the 4x4 as far as it was safe to drive and then a bit more. Then trekked about a km towards the lava flow.

Freak rain storm and a slight wind blowing from an abnormal direction caused acid fog to form and couldn't see past 3', also heat made batteries go dead changing them ruined half a roll of film. Couldn't find our way back to the 4x4 at dusk. walking over areas where we could see lava flowing through the cracks, melted the soles of my trekking boots.

Gadzooks Ryan, that's some story - and some dedication.

Tyler your shot was well worth the $25.

And David, an event in that area sounds like a great idea. Amazing how many beautiful areas in the GTA I know nothing about.

It's also quite hard to capture the beauty of the place in a way that people would say wow. I think it was well worth all the trouble you guys went through

I like to revive old threads...

On the surface, it is what I would have imagined it to be.
No electricity or running water.
No 2,500 sq ft homes.
No a/c.
No cars.
No 52" HD LCDs.
No cable TV.
No 3D Imax mega movies.
No ipods, ipads, iphones.
No bmw, versace, abercrombe or apple.
No designer shoes.
No designer anything.
No facebook or twitter.
No internet.
Not a whole lot by western standards.
They live in grass, straw and mud huts.
Not what a westerner would consider livable.
The morning communal meeting area?
The water supply station.
Where the women fill their pots.
Yet everywhere I walked, there were smiling faces.
And giggling children.
A different world.
A different pace.
Different.
Not inferior.
Their life, I would wager, is as much, if not more fulfilling than my own.
It is here, we could all learn a lesson.
I have for sure.
On what is truly of value.
What is key in life.
Key to happiness.
To fulfillment.
Sabodala Village
