Details:

What: Lang Pioneer Village Smoke & Steam
When: Sunday June 20th 2010 (Father's Day)
Time: 9AM
Where: Tim Horton's at Kingston Rd. & Sheppard Ave.
Bring: Camera stuff, sun block.

Lang Pioneer Village is located just east of Peterborough in the municipality of Keene, Ontario. The village has an excellent collection of homes and barns, including a steam powered sawmill, and Lang Mill which is a fully operational flour mill. The smoke & steam event is tons of fun. Owners of vintage tracktors come from all around to display their prize machines. They compete in different events as well. Should be a fun event! Admission to Lang Village is $10

We will meet at the Tim Horton's over at Sheppard and Kingston Rd. - it will take us roughly an hour and half or less to get to the village from there. Please be on time, as we will leave no later than 9:10am. Car pooling is available, so if you need a ride - let it be known here, and we'll see what we can do.

We can also visit the Hope Sawmill which is just around the corner from Lang Village. Although I believe the Hope Sawmill doesn't open for the season until July.

What time do you plan on us getting to Lang, and in turn getting back home?

I'm wondering if we can integrate that north/east road trip into the travel to and from this event, maybe swing through Kawartha lakes, etc on the way home? Or should that be it's own event?

I think this outing is pretty self-sufficient on its own - I only say that, because last year when Maureen and I went, we spent almost the entire day between Lang Village, Lang Mill and Hope Mill. Plus there is Needler's Mill in Millbrook on the way home, Tyrone Mill, and others.

I would also need a lift to the meet up point since the subway doesn't start until 9:00.

I can offer rides for those in city, but you would need to get to Scarborough by the blue line bus or the go train.

Yes, although we didn't actually go to the Smoke & Steam special event -- we went on an ordinary weekend. So this should be extra special then for you! I am looking forward to it.

I could meet you at Guildwood again if that still works.

I guess if you are driving there is no point for me to drive too -- unless we have more people that need to carpool.

So do I drive south to Maureen's, or do I drive due east, around Lake Scugog and meet you all there?

That would be fine David. Same as last time meet and then pick you up? You've got the shot gun seat reserved.

Decissions, decissions -- my guess is you'll be coming to my place! Temporarily hoding your seat.

I've said that I am unable to make it, but am switching to a maybe.

I assumed I would be participating in father's day hooha, if that doesn't pan out, I would love to come.

I live near Guildwood GO. Would it be possible to be part of that car pool? is there room still avaialble?

Oh ya! thanks.... I forgot to post the admission price. Reimar - it is really cool! Maureen and I went to the event last year to check it out. We had a great day photographing the old tracktors, and seeing the village and mill.

I'll be driving from Port Credit, but can't say for sure yet if I'll be able to make it (work can get in the way of fun sometimes). PM me in a week or so if you haven't found a ride yet.

Yes you can get a ride with me from the Guildwood Go. I will confirm a time as it gets closer and if you know for sure you are coming post that too.

What time do you think you'll get to Lang? I'll probably take back roads across and meet you there.

I think we'll be there by 10:30am. As long as everyone comes on-time to the initial meeting place.

Maureen, I'll just drive to Guildwood GO as well, and leave my car there for the day - that way we will save time on you having to pick me up.

I'm planning on taking the 407. I'll be leaving my house at 9am, so I'll meet up with you there at 10:30ish. If anyone wants a ride and can get to my house (Islington and Steeles) by 9, I've got a ride.
