Details:

What: High Park - In Search of Blossoms etc.
When: Saturday, April 24, 2010
Time: 8:00 AM
Where: Parking Lot near the Grenadier Restaurant.
Bring: Camera(s), Tripod or Monopod,

See Map and location below:
http://www.highparktoronto.com/map.php
http://www.highparktoronto.com/images/highpark_map.jpg
http://www.highparktoronto.com/index.php -- Home page

We will meet at the parking lot near the Grenaier Restaurant. This is sort of in the central location of the park. Enter off the Bloor St. entrance by car for easier acess. Parking is free. Hopefully arriving early will garantee good parking and less crowds for better shots of the cherry blossoms, or other flowering trees.

We will waunder around there and head over to the pond area or other locations as the day progresses.

Hopefully we will get some Cherry Blossoms this weekend if not we will make the best of the day.

When we get tired or hungry we can think about somewhere to grab a late breakfast, early lunch or brunch somewhere. The Grenadier Restaurant can be an option depending upon how busy it is at that time.

that place sucks big time, the owner is obviously a dumbass, as if he made it into a good restaurant he could make twice as much money! however, closest replacement would be on Bloor W only and West of High Park (pubs mostly, if you make it to Bloor West Village you'll find some restaurants as well)

I love love love cherry blossoms!

I've been googling for information, but I guess there aren't enough of sukura lovers to have a website to track the status of the blooms.

Anyways, I found this guide about the cherry blossoms in the park:
http://www.highpark.org/cherry.htm

Any idea what other flowering trees are planted in the park?

Sounds like a fun outing but it's way to early. I won't make it till sundown, which is when I really want to be there. Maybe we can meet at around 11.

Actually sunset will be nicer in that area, provided the weather is clear. The trees are on a slope which will be illuminated by setting sun, not exactly at 8pm, but maybe 6:30-7

Anyone tried the blossoms at the Royal Botanical Gardens? Since I'm just down the street from there I guess I should...

There's a couple of these trees on my street and they are definitely starting. The sun that comes this weekend will probably really get things moving.

I was so excited that I didn't even see that it's 8am. Maureen, I'll call you if I get there late.

I was there for the festival. perfect weather and right at the peak. it was amazing. too bad about the other 1.3 million people that had the same plans.

It might be wise to move this event to sometime next week if possible. There's been an update and looks like they'll probably start blooming this Sunday.

Cherry Blossom will be full bloom this weekend, should we switch to this weekend instead?

Blossoms are out full power, in two days it's going to be completely covered. As of right now there are already hundreds of people with cameras (Friday 2:30pm) Too windy though

High Park, April 16, 2:30 pm

If you want to catch them, you need to move the event to this Week-end

Never seen the blossoms at High Park - they attract crowds? Are we talking picnickers under the canopy?
