I'm in the market for a new monitor. My 19" LG is just not cutting it anymore. I would ideally like something at least 24" if not even larger. The issue is that I don't want to spend over $500 if possible. I would ideally like to purchase the NEC LCD2690W2-BK-SV 26, but at just over $1500 it's currently out of my price range. I will be connecting the monitor I purchase to my 15" macbook pro.
Any advice would be great.

Not sure if they have them anymore, but I bought a refurbished NEC 2690 last year for less than half that at Carbon Computing on Queen E

I picked up the Dell 2209wa last year when it was on sale .. highly recommended. But lately I've been hooking up my laptop -- through hdmi -- to my 40inch 1080p tv and it's pretty sweet. :)

That's incredible.
I will definitely have to take a peak into that store.

I'm using an NEC 2490WUXi and couldn't be happier. You will not regret any of the NEC monitors. However, I've read good things about the Dell U2410 as well. It sometimes goes on sale for <$500. I'd watch for that.

I'll put another vote in for the NEC 2690 - I got one from Carbon last year January - they were refurbs. Mine went on the fritz in July. Took it to NEC's repair centre in Scarborough - had it back in 2 days like new.

I can say that for the money (for the refurb, and the fact that it included a full year warranty) that the NEC monitors are awesome. I would definitely buy another.

Cheers,
Dave
