So I'm going to finally buy a tripod head tomorrow. I sold mine to PotatoEYE here on TPMG...and yes its been that long I've been without a head.

This will be going on my 055XproB and will be mounting various things in the next month such as DSLRs, glidecam track, HD video camera, etc.

Are they any good? Are the heads compatible with my Manfrotto tripod?

Vistek is having a 30% off sale on all Induro products.

I didn't like the 486RC2 much, I wanted more control rather having simple/speed.

well, tripod is for long exposures, where IS won't help, right? I know, I find 486 quite limiting at times, but serves my purpose so far

I got the 488RC2!

Got a great deal, $130 plus tax at Vistek, $20 off.

Its just like the 486 but has a separate knob control for ball friction and a knob for pan/rotate. Just what I wanted, control over panning.

Then I saw a really nice Manfrotto one for $500 (for a second thought it was $50).

Induro seems too shieettty. I didn't want to pay $80 for something that will fall apart and seem cheap. It didn't look or feel good. Way cheaper than brand name equivs.

I have a Really Right Stuff BH 40 ball head with their quick release lever which in itself is worth its weigh in gold. The ball head is solid like a rock and the lever means no more knobs to turn! Together with their L bracket on the body is a perfect combo.
Check it out.

+1 I have a RRS quick-release clamp, L bracket on top of a Markins M10. IMHO, this is the best ballhead/clamp combo but also very expensive.
I have heard Induro stuff is good and many users have been happy with their purchases.
