Hi everyone,

I have a very nice Kiron 28mm f/2.0 lens (Nikon mount) that is giving me issues (doesn't stop down), and I'd love to find someone qualified to have a look at it and see if it's worth getting repaired.

A lot of the "classic" repair places around town seem to have closed down over the last year or so, and I no longer know what the recommended shops are. Anyone have suggestions?

Jordan

You can take it to Downtown Camera and ask them if they know anyone that can repair it.

I just posted how pleased I was with Toronto Camera Service Centre on Jefferson Ave. http://www.torontocameraservice.com/

I asked them to rush my lens, because I was going away on a 1 week trip as of a week today. They had my lens done in 1 week, and wow... its good to go. They even went over and beyond what I expected and replaced the tiny glass window on the focus scale which I had cracked last summer in Killarney.

They are a tad on the expensive side for repairs, which I had heard from other TPMG members... but after the level of service I received compared to my HORRIBLE experience at Downtown Camera a few months back, I was more than pleased to pay the price.

Downtown Camera was not only rude to me, the person who conducts the repair operation was extremely unprofessional with me, everytime I inquired as to why it was taking so damn long to fix my lens. In the end, I didn't end up paying a cent, and neither should I have. It took them close to 8 weeks to repair a simple problem, that probably took an hour to fix. Now I am not saying that Downtown Camera is a bad place... as I trust them to develop my film, and I take all of my film to them for that purpose. But I would never have them service a lens ever again.
