Torrance: http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12455
Wye Marsh: http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=113936#113936

Details:

What: Both Events - Meteor Shower and Wye Marsh
When: Sat 15 Aug - Sun 16 Aug
Where/When: As per Torrance Barrens
Bring: Everything

So Tim and I were both noticing these two events are mere hours apart, and are a half hour drive away from one another, so who wants to do both in the same trip?

But how do we kill the 4am-10am gap? I'm guessing some of that can involve breakfast in Midland.

This also makes the car sharing agreement a little tricky. Need to gauge the interest...

As noted above a number of people interested in the birds of prey at the Wye marsh are also doing the meteor night event on the 15th. With the meteor shoot going to the wee hours and the Wye shoot being a morning start this may be too much.

Travel time has to be factored in as well and Google map says it is a bit more than 30 minutes from the barrens to the marsh (it says just over an hour).

Would it make sense to reschedule the Wye Marsh - Birds of Prey to August 23rd?

A normal 50mm lens is fine.
Also wide angle.
I mostly shoot between 24mm and 50mm for night skies.
And most important ..... a tripod :)
A cable release if you have one, if not use the self timer.

I posted the suggestion of a date change under the event and two voted for a date change and none to stay put.

So I am going to reschedule this to August 23rd and let the meteor night owls get some sleep and not try a 24 hour event and then fall asleep on the way home and wipe out some family on the highway. Or something like that.

New date Saturday August 23, 2009. Everything else remains the same.
