I haven't been here in a while..

I carry a lot of gear in my main bag.. a crumpler 7mdh.. it rocks.

I've long been contemplating a smaller shoulderbag, for light outings on foot, when I don't want to lug everything.

I considered one of the smaller crumplers, 5 or 6mdh, but they're a bit expensive for the use it would see.

Well, I was surprised to walk into my local Blacks today, and find this:





It's a Versabag, by fidelity electronics..

I assume its supposed to be the 5mdh, but hey.. it was $20 on sale.

The stitching and construction seem fine. And the materials have the same feel and heft as my bigger 'real' bag.

Here it is with it's bigger, 'real' sibling.





It gets my seal of approval.

Saw the knock offs at Downtown Camera today. Just like a Crumpler but without the logo.

hmm might consider a smaller knock-off.
anyway, i spent $100 on a 2nd hand 7mdh.
got lucky on craigslist, maybe you will too!

bought this knock off for $20

never even seen a used crumpler close to that.

the orig price tag on this clone was 39.99

Which Black's did you goto? I checked out Black's at Dundas Sq. and did not see it. It's also not listed on their website. Downtown camera's website didn't list them either.

blacks beaches had one last week but it was $40, and blacks shoppers world had 2 @ $20 on sale yesterday when i bought mine.

I think the sale price is chainwide, sorry your local didn't have one.

The Blacks near me didn't have any either

I snagged the "large" bag (there are three sizes to these clones - small, medium and large) but I haven't a clue what it compares to in the Crumpler range; mainly because I don't like Crumpler.

I always thought their bags were overpriced and they have this logo sitting there staring you in the face .

That said, Downtown Camera sells the small for $28, the medium for $38 and the large was a whopping $48.

I'm using mine as a lens bag - and it's perfect for that imho - because I can sling it and the extra loops on the end can hold the Lowepro F&S lens carriers as well.

Good value for the money imho.

I picked up the small knock-off bag today, it's on sale for $14.99 @ Blacks. I am extremely pleased with what I got for the price.

which location?

Blacks in Square One. I took one of the two that were on the shelf.

I got greedy and picked one up from Black's today. 14.99 + tax. It was the last one at square one location. Im not sure if Im gonna keep it or not. If anyone's interested, PM me. This is just in case someone is really looking for it and cant find it at black's. Otherwise I have 15 days to return at black's. I'll sell it for whatever I purchased.

i have the 5md and took a brief look at the knockoff at blacks. there is just no comparison between the quality. the construction quality is hugely different.

For $15 however, you can't really go wrong with a purchase like that. Not to mention there isn't that glaring logo on the front, which some people may actually prefer. I certainly wouldn't mind using that as a general walk-around photo bag

Sorry guys, I've decided to keep it. Just to let you know since I got a couple of messages.

They have a couple of the small and medium ones at the Blacks Super Centre near the Colossus on Hwy 7 & Hwy 400 in Vaughan.

I was at hwy7/400 blacks superstore today. The medium sized bag is priced at $39.99 (not on sale) and the small version is $14.99

There are quite a few at the Yonge/Eg Blacks.

I was told by the salesperson at fairview mall that the medium was selling for $29.99 and still decided to get it. But when he scanned the bag, it was in actuality priced at $14.99. Totally lucked out

When did you buy your bag? Also, do you know if they'd have anymore in stock?

I bought it last weekend. When I was there, they had 2 mediums and 1 small.

Pickering Town Center Blacks has 4 in stock as of this evening. They were ringing in at $39, but one of them had 19.99 tag on it, and I snagged one.

So I was testing out what mine would fit today. Fits my XTi with grip and 24-60mm(reversed hood) attached, 50mm 1.8(no hood), and a 70-200mm 4L(reversed hood). One helluva bag for that price.

what size bag did you get? how could you fit all that into this small bag?

anymore stock out there for the medium one?

Pretty sure I got the medium. I've often wondered if mine was the small. I wish they had size tags on them somewhere, because I honestly can't tell. Mine was 14.99 on sale marked down from 29.99.

for that price, I think you got the small sized bag. but again, I have to ask, how did you manage to fit all that gear in your bag? I guess you didn't mean that you fit all that gear into the bag at the same time.

Just look at the product tag, if it's "svbg" = small, "mvbg" = medium.

On the small, I can fit my 5d /w out grip + 24-70 (reversed hood) and an 85mm 1.8
