^ Very nice.

I can't seem to "see" the focal plane though...

my first tilt shift fashion shot using 45mm lens, I don't think I can direct link from modelmayhem so here is the link.

http://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic_ ... id=7729068

from the samples you have posted so far I can't exactly tell which once are shot with lens, which done in ps (that means good job everyone), but I must say that I love the bokeh in Tayler photos.

would you qualify a lensbaby as tilt-shift? It basically is.... although not in the more formal sense.

here is a good read on tilt shift lenses.

http://www.shutterbug.net/equipmentrevi ... 01sb_tilt/

in a nutshell there are used to control perspective by shifting, commonly used in architecture, and tilting to control dof (in most cases to increase the focus area).

well you could use it to put everything from an inch infront of the lens to infinity in focus at f2.8 if you wanted. or put a whole wall leading into the photo in focus at a wide f-stop as well

Not sure exactly what you mean by your comment. But have you considered that the OOF/bokeh is the desired effect in those posted so far?

I know what you meant, my :?: was regarding what was so funny about your statement.

Just as a side note you can't focus on anything an inch infront of the lens unless you have a macro lens, and I doubt any of the t/s lenses are, at least mine isn't

Many thanks for the link of what tilt lenses are. I had never heard of them before but they sure sound like a lot of fun!!!

From my 2nd try at a model shoot and I happen to have rented a tilt-shift lens for that weekend. So I decided to try it out during the shoot. I gotta try this again.

Is it just me or do the pics of the streetcar look like a "toy" diorama?

Very Cool either way - haven't had the chance to try one of these lens out - but the results look very interesting.

It works just fine but you have more control with Photoshop.

FYI, here are some simple instructions to turn a photo into fake tilt shift.
1) Hit 'Q' for quick mask mode. Hit 'B' for brush.
2) Use brush and paint over parts of photo that you want blurred. Play with different opacities and brush sizes for strength/effect of the blur.
3) Hit 'Q' again to get out of quick mask mode. Hit 'M' for marquee tool. You'll notice that the section you DID NOT paint over will be selected. Keep it selected.
4) Go to Filter > Blur > Lens Blur. Play around with the settings to your liking.
5) Press OK.
