I will be on a 16 day trip to UK in June/July. My planned route is like this: Stonehenge -> Oxford -> Stratford -> Windemere -> Glencoe -> Isle of Skye -> Stirling
-> Edinburgh -> York -> Cambridge -> Maidstone -> London. I will be spending 5 days around London toward the end of the trip.

For gear, I have decided on 2 copies of D700, and a 16-35 f/4 for now. I also have 24-70 f/2.8, 24 f/1.4, 70-200 f/2.8, 50 f/1.8 G, 28-300. For those of you who have been to Scotland and England, what would you recommend for landscape and interior shots of cathedrals and castles? Any advice is much appreciated.

thanks,

Take your 24 f/1.4 for any interior shots. you will need it. and i would recommend the 24-70 just so you can get a few tighter shots. or the 28-300 for every day walk around use.

I just came back from Scotland today. I didn't do a lot of castle interiors, but I think of your lenses, the 24-70 would be good for both landscapes and interiors. I'm not sure how much time you have in Edinburgh, but knowing that you enjoy bird photography, I would suggest checking the boat trips from the Scottish Seabird Centre (North Berwick). I really enjoyed the one to Isle of May (puffins, razorbills) - in which case you will either want the 70-200 or 28-300.

I found I got the most use out of my 18-200 and 70-200.
