Looks like Flickr is getting a make over, and us non-pros are no longer limited to 200 pics...

Sweet, I was literally hovering over pay button a couple days ago, just the complicated preauthorized payment scared me off

Even if you payed, there's an option to revert to the free account except ads will show up and stats are turned off for your portfolio. The reimbursement appears to be prorated based on the time remaining on your pro account. At $25/year, I'll give them my money since it's nominal.

If you're pro now and want to stay ad-free for half the cost but aren't already on autorenewal (if you had a gift code or a 2-year pro or something so you never got into the autorenewal system), you can opt into the autorenewal *now* -- but not, I think, for very long -- and keep your $25 ad-free instead of the new $50 ad-free option. Apparently it won't take $ from your account until it actually comes up for autorenewal. There's a link that shows up on flickr.com/help/forum, and probably other site pages too.

There's no such thing as professional photographers according to Marissa Mayer, Yahoo CEO. Said at Yahoo Press Conference...

" ... was a decision that we would not have the Flickr Pro piece anymore, and that all - there's no such thing as Flickr Pro, because today, with cameras as pervasive as they are, there is no such thing really as professional photographers, when there's everything is professional photographers. Certainly there is varying levels of skills, but we didn't want to have a Flickr Pro anymore, we wanted everyone to have professional quality photos, space, and sharing."

At around 46:12, here.

Jackpot, don't have to pay to upload and access full resolution files anymore. If you're a "pro" photographer, why wouldn't you just put photos on your website instead of Flickr?

I pay without auto renew. And as for using Flickr, its great to give clients private access, that's what I mainly use it for.

So far I don't like the interaction via my iPad.

Yeah.... I haven't spent enough time with it to properly evaluate but my early impression is negative. I'll give it time but it breaks a pile of IA rules (including too drastic of a change)... I get why but don't agree. I've heard disappointment from basic users too.
