The title says it all.
As long as it's in the name of security, who am I to complain?

I can bring my lawnchair and my cooler into the infeild, but clearly an SLR is dangerous, why exactly can not be explained, but I feel safer knowing they are keeping me safe.
Or could the reason possibly be they don't want anyone other than their official photographers to be able to produce a decent image. Nah, I'm just being a cynic now.

Sounds very similar to the rules for figure skating competitions, which changed right around the time I got a 70-200 2.8 lens (the longest and fastest allowed under the previous rules). At the last competition I attended, they were also saying that p&s cameras with a lens longer than a thumb length were professional cameras.

I'd complain about this, but I don't really have a horse in this race.

Obviously they should ban physical attendance of the event. That way everyone will be able to happily cower in their homes, watching it on TV.

They are banning interchangeable lenses but will have no qualms selling alcohol to people that drove to their venue.
