Did anyone notice that the LR upgrade does not copy over user stored camera calibrations from previous versions of LR?

yep, noticed. Everything defaulted, had to reassign the settings for the serial number

If you have a more or less decent computer, setting your Lightroom's cache to 10-15 GBs will speed up the performance. Be sure to have enough HDD space, though.

What are the benefits of upgrading to 4? I have LR 3 at the moment
