Just thought that I'd share this little gem, that a friend in Napanee turned me onto. Hopefully I'll be able to get out there on Sept. 22, if the weather is good, to see what I can get with longish exposures.

Have fun and remember to avoid white lights at night and try to back in vs drive in if parking anywhere near astronomers. I never tire of looking at the Milky Way ;)

I was actually thinking about parking in the conservation area, if I could, then walking to the pad so that I could preserve my night vision.

If you can, get there before it's dark, makes it easier to get your stuff out and set up for your photos. Haven't been to this site yet but hopefully this fall/winter or next year. If you have red gel or rubylith, you could put this over the headlights if you arrive when it's dark. SOP for cars at Starfest, at least those that MUST leave or move ;)

Cool. My boss/buddy has a cottage about 10min from Tamworth. I was there this past weekend and did notice a lot of stars visible. Then the storm clouds rolled in and all went to crud...

Well I only recently found out about this area, but I've been meaning to take some shots in the Napanee area all summer. Every time that I planned to, the clouds rolled in at night.
