I'd like to get some feedback from the members on the print quality of B&W photo's
I know places like Blacks are not really the best place to get quality prints made, but I often get stuff printed there anyway.
The problem I have is that I'm rarely satisfied with the final product as far as true blacks go. My question is. Could I expect to get way better results from
say getting a print made at Vistek and printed on a quality paper? And would I see a huge diff?
I would also appreciate the name of any good print house that others have used.

Thanks

It makes a big difference if you understand tone curves. Printing is a different media then screen especially for B&W, no matter how much you think your monitor is calibrated and how true you think your soft proofing is it will still look very different add to that different paper types and printer types and the combinations are vast.

I tried printing over 10 times and never got it right using a very expensive EPSON.

How are you determining your black point? Understand the printing workflow and it doesn't matter if you do it yourself or a printing house as long you get the process right will help you. I was asking these questions myself until I got tired of the BS of just bring in the file and we can do it for you. So, I bought a printer and now I do my own prints and very pleased with the learning and printmaking.
