Like alot of photographers I'm a member of various photography groups and sites. Just before Halloween I posted a few Zombie photos on a site(which will remain nameless). I woke up this morning to this coment about the Zombie album...

Stephen Pattison commented at 4:31am on Nov 4th
I just don't understand this obsession with Zombies ( & Vampires ) and all this "fasination" with blood and gore --- isn't there enough violence in the world without glamourising it --- sorry but these shots leave me cold and wondering if the photographer is in need of therapy

At first when I was reading it, I was thinking, Ok, I can respect his opinion, not all people are into this, but when he posted I need therapy! Needless to say I felt very pissed off  Judge my photos, my technical abilities, my subjects fine... I'll accept it with a smile. But to personally attack me? WTF?

I know alot of folks here photograph the Zombie walk event every year... Does anyone else have any similar stories to share? Or am I the only one attracting Nut cases? Curious to know...

Can't be as bad as southern Baptist women violently opposed to some gay pride shots on my website, I guess I'm going to hell

Of the couple of times that I have been to the event - never received a bad comment on posting the photos.

At the event itself, there seemed to be more photographers than zombies! Regardless, everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time (and lots of kids were there). The zombies liked posing and the photographers liked clicking. Sounds like you just got one sour dude.

there are always haters... its their fault for looking

be flattered that out of all the zombie stuff out there, yours were that good that it compelled him to say something.

Who knows, maybe they are into something that we find strange, like models with makeup that objectify women... I need therapy to then...

The person who posted that can't seperate reality from fiction. The people that choose to get into character as a zombie are doing so for various reasons and none of them have anything to do with violence.

His opinion of you by viewing your photo(s) is worthless. Cathy on enjoying you love of photography and don't waste another second on him.

I wouldn't worry about it at all, and in fact just laugh it off. I enjoy those types of comments :)

At the end of the day this person (him not you) needs therapy to understand reality and influence. Too many would rather complain about a side issue than act to change real issues. Obviously the commenter is poorly educated and of touch with reality, so why let his comment have value and influence over you? He'll probably go see Footloose and leave before it ends in disgust.

The trick to learning from criticism is to know who to take criticism from. :) (The others can be ignored)

I'm waiting for a zombie epidemic to actually occur.

After spending the day pondering what happened, and reading all your posts, I've realised I should be flattered that the pictures upset him enough to coment... It means they are somewhat effective at sturring up such emotions. I think this will teach me not to be so personally affected by rude/crude coments. In fact I know I'll laugh next time I see one. Thanks for the "pick me up" folks! Much appreciated! :D

Don't loose sleep over this. I am really surprised and saddened to see how much time and passion some people invest into negative comments.

you definitely need therapy.

SERIOUSLY.

Even Retail Therapy.

Everyone needs therapy.

I needed chiropractic therapy after the zombie walk - my sling bag is killing me.

It's obvious you haven't either or is it because you only watch Sun TV

I've already finished the prep work, it's just a waiting game now.
