Hello all,

I have a photoshop question, I import pictures (RAW file format) in Lightroom. Then I open it in Photoshop (from the "edit in photoshop" functions in Lightroom). A TIFF file format open in Photoshop and I made my post-processing in Photoshop and I want to save it in jpeg so I can print the picture. I save the picture in jpeg (in 8bit, the TIFF file is in 16bit). But this is where the problem is, I find my jpeg file looks "dis-colour". I even try printing it on 4x6 too and it does looks "dis-colour". I have no idea where I can go from here. Has anyone of you encounter a similar problem and have a solution? I am trying to print a family portrait in a 16x20 canvas, so need a good resolution version for it.
Thanks in advance!

Suzanne

I usually do the same thing as you except for saving the opened file as a jpeg. I still save my tiff file and it gets added automatically to lightroom after i do retouching in photoshop. After that happens, I export a jpeg version of the tiff file I added to my lightroom catalogue. I don't see any changes in color when I do that. Hope that helps.

Press save on the tiff in PS, it will automatically be imported in Lightroom, just export the file from LR as jpeg. I find LR export to be better and easier than PS

Is it discoloured in print or on the screen?
If on the screen, what app are you using to view the jpeg?
It could possibly be a colour profile issue that may not translate to print if it is properly calibrated.

Check the colour profile on the image before saving.

Edit -> Assign Profile.

You might want to check with whoever you print your photos what colour profile they recommend saving your images in. It is important to have the colour profile match the target device since different profiles can produce radically different results (i.e. the difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB).

color profile issue it sounds like.

You can also "save for web" option in PS, which will save in srgb (as long as it's checked in the box)

Thanks all, it works when I save the TIFF file back to LR and export it again.
