Your home contents insurance should cover it, unless you're talking about on-site/away from home/car insurance.

I went through Aviva to do mine as I just contacted my broker. She pointed me to a specialized insurance that they offer. It wasn't expensive at all since I was already a client. I think for an event, it was $50 in total.

I found this online, and they seem to be able to customize anything.

You shouldn't really use your home insurance to cover your camera equipment...your home insurance is for BIG things, like a crack in the foundation, someone gets injured on your property and sues you, fire, theft over $10,000, etc.

It's been reported in TV consumer shows that many insurance companies uses a strike system, after a couple of claims (even if they didn't pay off) they cancel your insurance; that's why you should pick and choose which things you claim for.

Some people who work for insurance companies say they don't do this, but how come there's all the people who have had their insurance cancelled after two-three claims?

Mine is insured under my home insurance. This does cover theft/damage outside of the home. I have a rider in addition to the regular insurance. I had to give serial numbers and costs of each item.

Mine's for recreational use equipment. Nothing professional.

gee.. and I thought it only happened to me... after my claim when my last DSLR and lenses where stolen.. I just got a notice that they are not renewing my insurance coverage anymore due to it.. i mean.. isnt this the whole idea of getting an insurance coverage? to protect our investment....? it was a separate insurance coverage apart from my home insurance... thats why I am searching for a new one now..
