The new Gran Turismo 5 on PS3 has a feature that lets you take cars that you "own" and lets you choose 4 different locations to photograph them. At each location there is an infinite number of angles you can choose. The feature also allows you to control focal point, focal length, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation. These are a few of the shots that I "photographed". These pictures are excellent for desktop wallpapers.

that's awesome. Even the other "CPU" car showed up at the same time! ha, but the real life one backed off.

Backed off ??? Didn't see any backing off I did see some slowing down going through some slow traffic. The dynamics of the simulator are pretty realistic compared to the early days. The roads were a bit rougher in the real world while the small responses to hand and gas inputs were a bit strange but still darn close!!!

I just hate the load times on GT5 and the AI isn't the greatest but the graphics etc are damn sweet!

GTR2 by Simbin still has the best physics engine ever IMO, based on the engine developed by Image Space Incorporated that also developed engines for use in the commercial/military purposes. If I only they could bring the dynamics from GTR2 together and the graphics from GT5...

Darn i just realized i posted the wrong autoblog link, that was the one i was going to post as it was something that Sony did (hence I couldn't understand Metrix response about the car slowing down, etc.).

PS3 games usually install onto the HD the first time you play. However, because of the sheer size of gt5, i believe they have done it so that it installs in bits as you play. just keep playing and eventually it will load faster once everything has been fully installed.

Oh cool! I'll have to keep playing it some more then. I usually kill wait times on my laptop but still hate waiting.

Looks freakin good. I'm going to have to get this at some point, but afraid of getting addicted to it. I had SOCOM ruin a relationship back when it came out, LOL.

If she didn't understand and accept your need for some personal downtime, she wasn't worth it. lol

I used to talk to her on phone saying I was really sick and was just going to stay in bed. And of course, when she did see me I did look sick because I stayed up all night playing. It was so addictive, had 4 guys I used to work with on a team and for one of them, his fiance made him give up his PS2 to her brother or the wedding was off, LOL. We had a scheduled online meet to play every Thursday night, and would play from 8pm to 2am, but we sometimes played till we had to get ready for work. And of course I played every night I could outside of that.

I was glad when we broke up, more playing time ... LOL.

OMG ... Tanner, that would too funny! I'm sure it would be a welcome thing now, as the the current g/f's kids would love it ... and I wouldn't have a chance to use it.

But as a note, that set-up wouldn't work too wel for SOCOM, lol. Actually the only games I've been addicted to have been: SOCOM; SOCOM 2; Devil May Cry; GT; GT2; Duke Nukem 3D; and lastly ... Ultima III.

I describe game addiction where you have thoughts like:

"I'll get something to eat right after I finish this."
"I'm not going to leave the house, so I can skip showering today."
"I know she's pretty and she wants sex, but ... she's been pretty annoying since I got this game, she's so selfish ... I'll just avoid her calling again."
"My mom will have another birthday next year, I'm pretty sure she'll understand me not going over or even calling."
"I can't believe I have to go into work to accept an award?!?!"
"I'm saving money on vacation. If I went away, I would've spent much more than $60!"

I think the first week I got this game, I split my time 50/50 between doing the races/challenges and taking photos.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonathanp77/sets/72157625704599416/show/

Oh and I definitely need to get a steering wheel. Throttle control with the X button is just a pain (especially with high powered cars).

i had the gas and brake set to the right analogue stick in gt4(up to gas down to brake) odd but it worked. i've never had to accelerate or slow down at the same time (yea no heel-and-toe if you are playing gt5 but why da hell you heelntoeing on the controller).

for forza i think the gas is set to the right trigger button which has analogue sensitivity and a long push length so an alternative on the ps3 could be the same (R2)

^ I tend to use both depending on the corner, or at least that's what I was practicing until I stopped playing

hmmm, I should give that a try. All these years playing GT, I never even tried that. I just rapidly press the X button (variable rates) to control the throttle. hahaha. It works fine for low powered cars but very challenging (especially with all the driving aids off) with the high powered cars like the LM prototype race cars.

btw, in case anyone wants to add me on PSN, it's JP7714.

That is the default setting on GT5 for the right analog stick.
