When I just tried to post from Flickr things have changed. When you get to place where you would right click (PC User) there would be a menu item to copy the URL of the image into the clipboard. It ain't there any more. Flickr no longer provides a direct link to the image through the afore mentioned menu.
The work around for now is to click on Properties in said menu and copy it into the clipboard from the Properities window. How long will it be before Flickr closes that door like DPreview. And after that how long will the old URL links be alive and grandfathered in.
I am not yet a Flickr Pro user, perhaps a Pro user could check it out and see if it applies to you as well.

I think you're overreacting a bit here, I don't think Flickr will disallow linking to images, they promote sharing of images after all. I can't comment whether the change you're describing has happened recently but Flickr changed the way you accessed the links to share the image a number of months ago.

Anyhow, when you are viewing an image, there is a menu just above the menu, click on "Share this" and then "Grab the link" or "Grab the HTML/BBCode". Do note though, that Flickr's terms of service do indicate that when you share Flickr images and share them, you must provide a link back to where the Flickr image is. This is by default satisfied by the links you grab with the method I described above, however, it is not satisfied by the method you've described.

still there for me.

Are you right-clicking the image and trying to extract the image URL?

I'm using the 'share this' tab above the picture, left click shows a menu of options on how the picture should be shared.

-View all sizes
-Pick the size you want
-Right click, "Copy Image URL"
(I'm on a Mac, and this works with Safari, Chrome and Firefox)

MIke

Code:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29830107@N06/5348061408/" title="Red Mustang by Walk About Camera, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5290/5348061408_60116070d4_b.jpg" width="800" height="352" alt="Red Mustang"></a>

The above is grabing the html code and using [code]

[img]<a%20href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29830107@N06/5348061408/"%20title="Red%20Mustang%20by%20Walk%20About%20Camera,%20on%20Flickr"><img%20src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5290/5348061408_60116070d4_b.jpg"%20width="800"%20height="352"%20alt="Red%20Mustang"></a>[/img]

The above is grabbing code and using [img]

Image

The above is grab the image and using [img]

None of these are what I did in the past. I would go to the page where you could select the size of the image you wanted, links to all the sizes available would be on top and you would select the size you wanted and then right click on that image and there would be a menu item to copy the URL link. It ain't there any more. and for me the grab the link where you suggest does not work as you can see above. However as I mentioned I am not a Pro user and you are.

here's using grab the link with [code] to be complete

[code]http://www.flickr.com/photos/29830107@N06/5348061408/in/photostream/[/code]

and

Image

removing /in/photostream/

As I said I did that on a PC and the menu item ain't there anymore, and again I am not yet a pro user you are. So it looks like they have made things mor difficult for non Pro users.

Umm no, maybe it is because you are pro and I am a non-pro (ie freebe) Flickr user.

How about a PC user that is a pro flickr member. What do you see when you go to the pick your size page and right click on the image, is the copy the image url item there or not. I am now going to leave exporer and open Chrome and see what happens.

Hmm, looks like I will have to wait to do that. Chrome was not on my last Norton Ghost Backup and I lost it when I restored. Perhaps some pro and non-pro flickr members on a PC with chrome could do it.

I got to pee and go to bed, nighty night.

OK couldn't sleep. Got up and booted up my wifes computer and went to Flickr using Chrome. Went to the pick your sizes page right clicked and there it was "copy image URL" or what ever, short menu. Went in using Explorer and I get the usual long right click menu and no copy image url. Would not be the first time a site was changed and lost cross the board browser compatability. I was using Chrome most of the time before doing the Ghost restore.

Now if a non-pro flickr member with a PC could go in a try with Explorer I would be grateful. It might be our installations of Explorer but I doubt it, I am running vista and my wife is running xp.

Now to try to get to sleep again, nighty night.

It is an IE specific issue. The right click context menu is not driven by web design, it is based on the browser.

I tested on IE8, the right click copy image URL was not there, but it was not limit to just flickr, but on all the sites I tested. Firefox 36 and 4b8 works fine. I won't have access to IE7 until later the day, so I don't know how IE7 will turn out.

As others have suggested, use the 'share this' to get to code. I think that is the official Flickr way.

Yes. I have a Flickr Freebie account and I am a PC :)

Bingo. IE never had the "grab image URL" option.

Right, why all the hassle with all the other ways when the official Flickr way of sharing this works perfectly well? Apologies if my description of how to do this above sucks but here's a screenshot:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/qualdoth/5348785871/" title="&quot;Share this&quot; screenshot by qualdoth, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5089/5348785871_28f67aff15.jpg" width="500" height="260" alt="&quot;Share this&quot; screenshot"></a>

You don't have to use the img tags here anymore -- just provide the HTML info, and it will automatically link the photo.

It would be good if the OP had avialable to her/him a button to click that would add "FREAK-OUT-ALERT" to the thread Title.
