This video is certainly worth watching - http://vimeo.com/17087679 it's a stop motion film using long exposures and light stencils.. a rather interesting and very time consuming technique.

I have my doubts this is done using light stencilling. It looks to be a computer generated technique AFTER the pictures were shot using opacity.

The reason why I think this is to have the object light painted in the exact same spot in several frames is impossible, since you have the light source in the frame for part of the exposure, and then remove it to get the opacity...to put it back in the exact same spot for frame after frame is impossible, at least in "real life"...on the computer it's easy to have a CG object on another layer and have it appear in the same spot for several frames.

It's a heck of a lot of work to do this but not impossible.

I don't really know anything about this technique but the dog certainly shifts between frames, even when he's being still you can notice a slight shift from one frame to the next.
