so... just walk around with an F6 + 400mm lens, its not a "D" SLR, right? ;)

edit: f6 being dslr or not, whatever, my point was to just walk around with a film camera. who cares about the D!

Hotwire could LEGALLY stick his 300/3.8 on his NEX-5 and be perfectly within his right to do so.

My wife and I lived/worked there briefly in 2002. We left that October, as forces were being assembled to invade Iraq. (The road project I was to work on was canceled suddenly.) Saw some pretty neat Hummers with duck hunting guns mounted on them while I was there, as well as the remains of Iraqi armored vehicles in the desert.

Kuwait was a bit of a police state, although not as bad as Saudi was when I lived there in the early 80's.

What really left my wife an I shaking our heads was one weekend afternoon when I had my Pentax 67 out, and the missus had her Minolta out. We were both working on shots with an old mosque in the foreground and their communications tower (like a poor man's CN Tower) in the background. The police pulled up to me and started talking in Arabic. I figured out they were upset about me talking pictures of the mosque or the tower. I turned to the wife, and she was being escorted back to me by a police car.

After about 5 minutes of the officers speaking on the radio to higher and higher authorities, it came out that we were Canadians, and were quickly ordered released. The officer who initiated the stop was still angry, and told us we were not to take pictures of that tower again.

Three months later, the forces invade Iraq, and guess what you see in the background as every single reporter does their thing from the roof of the Sheraton hotel? That same tower.

When Kuwait bans DSLR's I have to wonder what else is going on there (that we are not hearing about). During our stay they seemed to have a number of Al Qaeda sympathizers, so who knows what has happened now.

Two places I have no interest in going too, Kuwait and the TTC.

If a "big black camera tends to worry people", maybe you need one of those pink dSLRs:
