So, looking to plan a day trip on a weekend for fall leaves this year along with the gf and her family.

Any recommendations and info? I am looking to drive 1-2 hrs away from TO.

Thanks! :D

Cheltenham Badlands is a very popular spot to go in October. There are also some very nice displays of colour in the Uxbridge area - north pickering, Around the Lakeridge ski hill, etc.

Cheltenham is great, except go early in the day. It gets littered with people all over the badlands (which is really a no-no). Same with Forks of the Credit. Go early in the day, otherwise you'll be cursing at the traffic, yes it's that bad if you go when the colours are at its best. Rattlesnake Point is another good spot, great lookout, easy hiking required.

Anyone have a link by chance to where and when fall colours are peaking?

Thanks

I can't ever recall so much colour in the trees bordering the field beside my house during the month of Sept.

I'll be railfanning up a storm during the next few weeks, trying to capture the railroads working during the autumn colours.

And Lovekin is close to Mosport.....hmmm.....roadtrip

I was at the Mono Cliffs park on the weekend, its 65-70% still Green, but its turning orange and red slowly.
I guess another week or two would be good time.

it was a good road trip, only an hour and half far from here,
I followed Hwy 400, then hwy 9 to the Orangeville and took highway18 to get there,

on the road there were a few nice barns etc. I loved it.

I'll probably go there again in a few weeks.

Where exactly do you want to go? I could tell you go and do the Centennial Ridge up in Algonquin :)

Plenty of trails and information here: http://www.canadatrails.ca/hiking/hike_on.html
