Hey you Canon shooters:

Anyone seen these changes to the Canadian CPS? I recall questions on here in the past, particularly about the pro requirement. Now it looks like you pay to be a member and can "buy" in at a non pro lower level.

Details are here,

http://www.canon.ca/inetCA/subCategoryH ... catid=4346

It doesn't look like Canon USA has gone the same way for non-pro membership.

Hmm... I need some work done on one of my lenses and the discount on service might justify the cost outlay! Worth the costs to be able to 'demo' a 600mm f4 for a weekend too! :-)

Would that require you to sign up for the platinum level?

Looks like you still need to have a business or something like that, so the regular Joe off the street with two 40Ds won't qualify I suspect.

The CPS program is available to full-time and part-time photographers that meet the membership level requirements of equipment ownership and business status.

So then someone like me with just 1 body is only half a Joe?
Maybe even less as it's a 30D
Maybe I'll change my screen name to: <Half Joe

They changed that under the new system. If you have at least a pair of 40D's (or better) and a pair of L lenses, you can get a Gold CPS membership for $100 a year. You do not have to hold professional status. Platinum membership requires a pair of 5D Mark II's or better (50D and 7D don't qualify), 3 'L' lenses, proof of pro status, and $250/year.

What if you're a business and between you and your partner you have enough gear to qualify for the platinum status?
