A good friend of mine usually goes to Iceland once a year, this year he didn't make the trip (his traveling partner had to get surgery). He's kicking himself now as he usually goes mid-March. I did the Hawaii volcano tour on the Big Island last year. What a ripoff! The closest we got was seeing the smoke plumes from a mile away! At least you can get up close here. Hummm, then again, do you really want to be THAT close? lol

Very cool. I was in Vanuatu two summers ago and got pictures of the volcano there exploding. From the pics, I think Vanuatu is 1/2 again larger and it's definitely 4th world country, so no issues getting to the rim where lava-boulders were actually falling BEHIND you! No rescue service though if you got into trouble.
