Probably not. It's easier to dispute something if you don't make a definitive statement. Anyway, I posted the XKCD comic under the pretense of inspiration in that people should shoot what they want to shoot and not what there is pressure to shoot. Although in itself it is not inspiring I was hoping that the sentiment might help someone remove a barrier to becoming inspired.

As for the memory and photography article I saw that make the rounds. I haven't looked closely at it yet for two reasons. The first is that it's one of the dumber statements - "doing a secondary distracting task will cause your performance on the main task to suffer." No shit?! Distractions DON'T help us remember stuff!? Whodathunkit? The second is I suspect it's quite loose with defining what photography is in relation to the shooters. In fact defining the relationships of the subjects to a lot of things. Otherwise, like I said, it's proof that distraction smudges memory printing. The authors shouldn't hold their breath for a Nobel.

Petapixel provides a product shot retouch video that displays the level of detail required in product photography. To me product photography is probably the most challenging genre of photography. Oh, if you're thinking a watch shot is not worth that effort I'm pretty sure that is the new Rolex Daytona Platinum which retails north of $70,000. You can get it in gold for just over $20k I think. I find this inspiring because of the attention to detail required.

Maybe it is off topic. I find reading a book makes me try new perspective or new subject.
Good books like the art of photography, and mountain light.
