Hi,
I am preparing for a new baby in the summer and am wondering if you can provide me with tips on how photograph a newborn.
I am very new to photography and do not have any experience with lighting (and do not own lighting equipment), I own a Canon XSI a 50mm 1.8 lens and the two kit lenses (18-55 IS, 55-250 IS), I also have a 430 flash.

I read a few articles on http://digital-photography-school.com/, and some other places and look for newborn pictures in flicker and picasa.

what lens should I use?
do I need more equipment?

any one taking newborn/baby pictures and need assistance?

any tip/ideas are appreciated.

Thanks.

equipment

a nice floor lamp/diffused soft lighting
a room heater
lots of blankets, snuggees, toys,

no matter how much gear you have, you try to prevent the baby from crying/getting cranky.
