I shot some video from my trip last November and edited it not too long ago. I found out that it takes a conscious effort to shoot video from a DSLR and not like using a camcorder with AF and image stabilization. It's a lot of fun and gets your creative juices flowing that's for sure. Trying to think up what looks interesting or how can I shoot something to make it seem interesting for 5 seconds or less compared to a static image.

I won't be giving up my day job or be the next JJ Abrams that's for sure. lol

Things I learned:

- They make fluid video heads for a reason (wasn't planning on shooting video on my trip so I left it home)
- Cheap ball heads aren't the best for stability
- Sensor dust is a b!tch!
- Footage shot handheld without Image Stabilization suck!

Gonna build my own rail system before I attempt my next video project. :D

You can view the vid on Vimeo http://vimeo.com/8363941 if you want a good chuckle or kill 5min of you life.

Great first attempt. Good shots, great pacing.

Only thing I can think of is that I didn't really like two of the rack focuses. One at 0:50 and at 1:41. Both had the greenery taking up the whole shot.

Takes those two shots out and you can probably sell this video to a travel agency.

Oh, and I wouldn't have noticed the dust if you didn't mention it. I actually had to pay close attention to see it.

Thanks Thericyip. Yeah I was looking for footage and some of the other ones I shot weren't very well done. I basically ran out of footage to use and ended up using these two. Not my first choice but then again, shooting a video was just a spur of the moment idea. :P

Very nice Carlton and I think the music fits this video really well.

Seeing that sure makes me want to go on vacation. What lens did you use by the way?

Thanks. I used a combination of lenses from 70-200 f2.8, 24-70f2.8 and 16-35f2.8.

I always get stopped by customs when my camera bag goes through the x-ray. I might have to buy an Netbook for my Hawaii 2011 trip if the single carry-on bag policy stays. That's gonna suck.
