I just came back from there and have a few pictures I'd like to share.
Perhaps this will help others to understand this beautiful country a bit better.

These are great pictures. I love seeing how flat lands connect with the mountains, it's almost magical.

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice set of images.

Are you somehow related to military?

Are these former Soviet tanks relics?

great shots - Afghanistan is on my list of places to visit when my girlfriend feels it is safe enough. I've always know it to be beautiful. In the 70's Kabul was part of the hippie's backpacking circuit - probably due to the heroin.

Where in the country were you?

Does the Karzai gov't control that part or is it under the control of warlords/Northern Alliance? Did you have any security concerns?

It's like this, no matter where you are in Afghanistan, Taliban controls the country at night. Northern part is somewhat safe, but there are a lot of Taliban fighters in the south. They also have a lot of supporters in that area as well from the local population. Most people in Afghanistan do not support them. Seems like only un-educated do. Those and perhaps some who lost their relatives due to friendly fire from our side. 1000s of civilians died in bombings since this all began. Someone shooting from that village? 10 minutes later there's no village... People are angry at us and part of me understands why.
There's a security concern no matter where you are,but everyone seems to be friendly towards my cameras. There's no hate against journalists and such. I heard even Taliban lets them go :)
