what causes this effect in my camera when I shoot on a sunny day sometimes?

What is causing that washed out effect in the picture? I love it and it wasnt added in pp. but Im just curious what causes it because I see it in alot of photos and it looks really good

I've gotten a similar effect in shots while using a lens hood while shooting into the sun.

The only thing I can come up with is that the sun is reflecting off the inside bottom lip of the hood into your frame. I have never seen this in my shots without the sun blasting on that bottom lip.

Shoot back-lit and overexpose a little. Or have the sun a bit off-centre but in frame.
