I keep getting these low offers for the 50D and 24-105 I am trying to sell on craigslist and Kijiji. Guess everyone wants a bargain but the language some of these people use in their emails is insulting. Like they are doing me a big favor by offering me a low ball value. No, "this is my first offer lets see if we can do a deal". Rather, they almost threaten you with something like "here's my low offer if you don't take it I'll buy something else". Well good lucky buddy trying to find an L lens for 600 bucks :P.

It's the nature of the beast. Some people honestly think they're doing you a huge favor buy lowballing. Sure $10-$20. off the asking price but I've had idiots offer me 50% less than what I was asking and they get into a huff when I don't accept their offer. Now I won't even bother replying. Soon as I see a lowball amount, I just automatically hit Delete. Bye bye.

I used to take it personal and now I just delete them. What does bug me is when you get close to a deal and have even worked out a meeting spot and then..............silence. Again, I have come to accept it as the culture of CL/Kijiji purchases.

Yes I agree. I guess some people see the 500 dollar kits at future shop and think why should I pay that much more?

I've found Nigerians to be always willing to pay more than your asking price.

Unfortunately the 50D is a sales flop so not too many people are interested in it, unless the price is really cheap.

Your lack of understanding of sarcasm is disturbing. Or maybe you're just overly sensitive and prefer to preach morality to others.

Honestly, you should know better than to throw out racial slurs .. I'm disappointed. No more comments from me.

Not selling it for 500 lol. I can use it as a 2nd body if no one takes it in the end.

Meh, maybe in the end I'll just wait 2-3 months to get the 7D and keep both pieces. The 24-105 could be good for videos with the USM focusing.

Reminds me of the Russell Peter's joke about his parents trying to make a deal with the shopkeepers at Pacific Mall.

"I give you best price!!! $34.50"

"But that's only 50c off man."

"50 cent a lot of money!, you save 50 cent here, you go somewhere else you save 50 cent, then you have 1 dollar. ......... Then you go to the dollar store and buy something else!"

Strangely I recall my mom trying to do the same thing, except she's asian lol.

My mom says that about how if you save here and save there you end up with enough for something else  . Yes we are asian.

Anyhow another guy offered me 700 for the 50D and told me A) I should accept it because he only got 500 for his D300 from Henry's and B) The D300 is a better camera than the 50D.

Funny thing is I easily found 2 D300 selling for 1000 and 1200 each. The 1000 one has 12k shutter on it. Sigh why do some people insists that everyone has to be as stupid as they are?

I don't like haggling at all but I am also not suprised someone wants a good deal.

Here is TPMG example from a while ago, quite the opposite of what you guys are talking about.

Remote flash trigger from ebay $15, shipping $10, tpmg price for used one $60. (preaching about lowballers $Priceless ;-)

I could go on ;-)

"Be a man!"

Man that was hilarious.

I don't mind admitting it, I'm Asian, and I'm cheap. There, I said it.

That piece is a classic, almost peed my pants, glad was able to catch a drift since being a polak is not that easy (hey add that to politically incorrect self-poking jokes ;-)

Guess what the dude came back with after I show him some links to what market prices are?

He tells me he got a 5Dmk2 for 800 bucks. It's either completely knackered or stolen if was asked to guess.
