I am looking into offering a Fine art giclee & photographic Printing service online
using a great printer, and great paper and having a calibrated work flow.

I would like to gain some feedback from Photographers on what they would be looking for in a service.. what is the most important aspect of such a service (Quality, Speed, Colour Accuracy, paper selection, Price etc.)

what makes you choose one place over another?

what are your experiences using similar services?

any feedback you care to share would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep in mind that it is against the rules of this forum to specifically advertise commercial services. That being said, you haven't actually done that, and if all you are looking for is feedback, then its all good.

LOW Price, Quality results! Offer both and you're the winner

depends on the customer... decide what you want to offer that differentiates your product/service from your competitors and build a marketing/biz plan on that...

assuming quality and price are competitive, location is the determining factor, speed is a secondary factor depending on the purpose of the final print...

TIW - competent to high quality, competitively priced but lacks paper options if speed is a factor
Elevator - high quality, priced accordingly
Pikto - quality varies, not dependable in my experience (so much so that I don't use them)

I live downtown in the west end...

I doubt there is a profitable business in small prints (11x14 and under)... most vendors compete on price and therefore rely heavily on volume and high speed bulk printers are required to join in the game...

there may be a high end, large print customer base but you'll have to focus on artists and professionals who will invest in high quality prints... others will get them done at futureshop or shoppers... and you can't/don't want to compete with that..

good luck

I am planning atleast at first to offer the service as an online / Ship only option without a storefront. this may limit my customer base.

in that case, I'd market to smaller towns and communities outside of the GTA where they are unlikely to have any bricks and mortar options...
