If you are struggling with flash photography (and who isn't!), there's a new book out that I would recommend:

On-Camera Flash Techniques for Digital Wedding and Portrait Photography

Image

The author is Neil van Niekerk, who runs http://planetneil.com/ and conducts workshops on professional photography lighting. His book presents techniques that are useful in real-world situations away from the controlled environment of the studio. He illustrates techniques that he uses at weddings, taking into account existing light and surroundings, all while keeping your flash on your camera and not overwhelming you with a zillion gadgets.

And, really, for $25 you can't go wrong. :D

Can this be picked up at most book stores?

Quick on-line check of Chapters/Indigo/Coles stores says there is not a single copy in stock in any of their stores in Toronto. Might find one at Henry's or Vistek on their book racks, but they usually have small selections. So on-line ordering through Chapters or Amazon may be your only option.

It's published by Amherst, which most bookstores carry. Whether the store actually has any on the shelves is a different matter. Chapters/Indigo lists the book for online purchase, but the stock finder says no stores around me have a physical copy.

After being spoiled with studio lights, learning how to use camera top flash more effectively is on my list of what to improve on. Thanks for sharing, ordered a copy.
