I'm hoping this is a stupid question & that someone out there is able to help me out !!

I'm trying to print an 8.5x11 image from Photoshop & it's not allowing me to do so without forcing me to CROP IT !! (although my printer - CanonPro9000 - says it prints 8.5x11 borderlesss)....

I've set all my margins to 0 ... & can't seem to figure this out !

PLEASE HELP

The issue is the ratio of the image you are trying to print.

Most SLRs use a 3:2 ratio, and most P&S use a 4:3 ratio...neither of those will print in an 11x8.5 without cropping.

Personally in those situations I will crop the image before sending it to the printer, so *I* will have the control of what will be cut off.

The alternative is to unlock the link icon so that you stretch the image to fit (distorting the image).

Hi there
Thanks for getting back to me - even after cropping my image to 8.5x11 the printer is still printing w/borders!! (uneven ones, I might add) even though I have the margins set at "0"...

me again - just thought I'd add:
the only way I was able to print without borders was in lightroom & I had to maximize the 'extension' of my margins - basically similar to expanding my image to fit the full page... photoshop won't allow me to do this (the option is shaded out)...
thx again! I appreciate any assistance you're able to provide.....

Use scale to media. Preview would show you where it's positioned against target paper size. Why are you printing bleed? If it's economy buy a sample pack on the next size 11x17 then you can mount it nicely IMO.

I've tried using scale to media but that leaves HUGE white blocks around my image. I'm trying to print borderless!! In Lightroom, I'm at least able to expand my photo by 'increasing cell size' then 'max extension' which is similar to cropping but instead ZOOMS IN but at least this allows me to print borderless (I guess)... I thought Photoshop would allow me to crop my print to 8.5x11 before sending it to print, but it STILL prints with borders!

Maybe it's impossible ? Seems so ! :(

In your page set up go to paper and tick off borderless. What Photoshop are you using?

Are you sure your image is 8.5x11 or the target paper size. To me that is not native size whether crop or full frame camera.

One thing to note, I can print borderless but only at bigger sizes. Check exeptions on your model.

CS5 is much superior to lightroom. There should be no reason why you cannot do it and much more.
